PROGRAMS
Yosemite High School Instrumental Music Program consists of two choirs, two bands and two percussion classes. During football and basketball season the Advanced Percussion, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble combine to form a pep band. In the spring the bands perform at CMEA (California Music Educators Association) Festivals and the Heritage Festivals in Anaheim, California.
Jazz Band
Jazz band is directed by Mr. Hyatt. This
class will offer all students the opportunity to learn jazz techniques and concepts.
Concert Band
Concert Band is directed by Mr. Hyatt and
on many occasions will be assisted by Mr. Mierkey and Sandra Schaefer. This
class offers students the opportunity to learn a secondary instrument or
provides advancing methods to students working on developing their musical
instrument technique.
Percussion
Mr. Hyatt is the director. This
class will offer intermediate percussion students the technique to excel in
their skills as musicians in the area of concert percussion.
Wind Ensemble
Mr. Hyatt is the director and
may be assisted by Mrs. Schaefer. For supplemental study, students are encouraged to be on private lessons.
Marching Band
Marching Band class is directed by Mr. Hyatt and assisted frequently by Mr.
Mierkey.
